Austin had his 2 month check up today, which included 4 shots. I had to take him myself, as John had his own doctor's appointment that we didn't know he had until just last week. I purposefully left his car seat in the car, knowing I'd be carrying out a screaming child. Austin slept through his check up, waking only when laid down to be weighed and measured. He weighs just 13 lbs. (we thought it would be more), and is 23 inches long. That puts him in the 75th percentile for height and 90th percentile for weight (what can I say, he likes to eat!). After talking with the doctor (who in not so many words said he's not terribly concerned about Austin sleeping on his tummy), it was time for shots. I came prepared, giving him Tylenol just before he got the shots. He then had to drink more, taking the polio vaccination. I busied myself with cleaning the syringe while the nurses gave him the shots. He screamed (obviously), but not as bad as I thought. His cries lessened when the nurse picked him up, and nearly ceased when I held him. I nursed him for a short bit, and we left the doctors office with Austin bright-eyed and surveying the office. What a trooper!!
The doctor warned us he might run a fever, which he did. He's taking Tylenol and contentedly sleeping on mommy's chest. Hopefully all this daytime sleeping doesn't lead to a sleepless night!
