Just hangin around

Now that Austin is contentedly napping in his crib, I have some time to post things.  Here's some pictures of us just hanging around:

Smiling at Daddy

Uh... huh?

Upside down looking at Daddy

Why do you keep putting that big thing in my face??

I love this picture, too cute for a caption!

Isn't he just adorable??

I know John doesn't look great in this pic, but doesn't Austin look just like him??

Mother's Day picture!  Obviously we didn't go anywhere, my hair looks awful!

Daddy's not the best at focusing, but this one was too cute not to post.

SOO big!!

Tummy time

Well, it's not exactly "tummy time."  We have discovered Austin is a tummy sleeper.  We had our suspicions as he loves sleeping on our chests when we're reclined.  It just happened one day when he leaned over too far, and I just decided to put him on his tummy on the couch.  I figured he would wake up  when I did, but instead, he slept for 2 1/2 hours!  So, he's begun napping on his tummy during the day.  I know, I know, I sound like a bad mom because of all the research about SIDS and kids sleeping on their tummies.  BUT, he only naps during the day, and I check on him frequently.  Plus, look how peaceful and adorable he looks when he's sleeping:

He's SO tiny in the giant bed!!

The Nursery Transformation

So it's only taken me 2 months to get this post together.  We started working on Austin's nursery in January.  It still needs a few pictures of him on the wall, but otherwise it is complete.  I failed to get a "Before" picture, but here are pictures of just after the "Before" to "After."
Painted!  We did not think we would paint it blue, but it matched the bedding so well, we went with it.

First piece of furniture, the dresser

After the St. Louis baby shower

Another piece of furniture, kept from the guest room

Trying to decide: valance only, or valance and curtains?

The crib is assembled!  Thank you Grandma Cindy and Grandpa Eric!!
Waiting for a mattress.

Done! (except for the gliding chair)  As you can see, we went with valance AND curtain.
Thank you to Grandma Cindy and Aunt Emily for helping Mommy and Daddy put the final touches in the room.  That shelf above the dresser was nearly the death of Grandma and I!

Toy bench filled with books and toys, waiting to be read and played with.

A rainbow of cloth diapers waiting to be worn, and a dresser/changing table waiting to be used.

Crib, waiting for a handsome little baby to sleep in it.

The glider is here!  Thank you Grandma Ruth and Grandpa John!

We didn't have to wait long after the room was finished to use it.  Austin arrived on Grandma Cindy's last full day in town, just 1 day after we finished the room.  (Well, except for the shelf above the dresser, Mommy and Daddy had to put that one up after Mommy and Grandma FINALLY figured out how to hang it.  Stupid cinder block walls!)

Austin enjoys spending time rocking in the glider and playing on his play mat.
He's now sleeping in his room too!!
